They began the morning deploying geocomposite on the north 2:1 and 5:1 cell slopes. Concerns
were discussed about the high moisture values of the cell floor clay. Prior to deployment, and at the request
of Butch S.,five(5)baggie samples were obtained at various locations that appeared to be of the highest
moisture contents. All samples were within the three(3)to eight(8)percent above optimum moisture
content as stated in the specifications. The GSE foreman was verbally informed of the results and I
informed him that it would be up to him to decide if he wanted to deploy since a subgrade acceptance form
would have to be signed. He stated that he would begin deployment in the afternoon after the clay.had a
chance to dry a little further. 60 mil liner was deployed on the east floor of the FU-03 cell. Nine(9)rolls of
double textured 60 mil were placed and seamed throughout the afternoon. Destructive sample locations
were marked for tomorrow's cutting and testing. Two(2)panels of twelve-ounce(12oz)geotextile were
placed along the eastern edge of the cell boundary in the early evening.
Sukut continued work on the access road, importing baserock and blading and compacting the road
material. Laborers continued to remove visquine from the west cell floor. Minor work was performed on the
clay in the southeast and southwest floor corners. Tim S. stated that a sample of the(-3/8")granular
drainage material would be delivered to the site by Granite personnel tomorrow.
Prepared By: Reviewed By:
4/23/03,Rev. 0 1 of 1
r_,
