They continued
extrusion welding of the cross seam patches and the tie-in seams on the southern half of the FU-03 cell
floor. Twelve-ounce(12oz)geotextile was rolled up in the northeastern quadrant of the cell floor in the
afternoon. Destructive samples were cut and obtained up to DS47,which completed the required sampling
frequency. Since sample number DS-33 had previously failed,two(2)more samples were obtained. These
were taken ten feet(10')on either side of the DS-33 location and were marked as DS-33A and DS-33B.
The area between these samples and the seam before another passing destructive sample for that machine
was extrusion welded.
Forward personnel swept rainwater off the whole of the cell floor throughout the day. This was to assist
the leak testing firm.
Sukut Construction imported baserock and placed and graded the access road into the cell. Sump pipes for
the leachate pond and cell were welded together on the upper deck. The foreman stated that another sample
of the coarse drain rock would be delivered by tomorrow(12-3-03)or Thursday(12-4-03).
Leak Location Services,Inc. (LLSI)personnel were on site to set up for leak testing. Their foreman stated
that they would be back on site at 6:00 pm to begin testing. In the early evening, LLSI returned to the site
and began set up and leak testing. By 9:30 pm the northern half of the cell was complete. The maximum
area which could be tested was determined by the hose length and grounding wire. The foreman stated that
they would return in the morning and set up on the northeast corner of the cell to complete cell testing.
AWL
Prepared By: Reviewed By:
4/23/03,Rev. 0 1 of 1
r-,
