Vector's CQA Monitor
observed the smooth drum rolling procedure and advised the Contractor of areas where
SAMPLE
NUMBER
DATE
SOIL
DESCRIPTION
MODIFIED
PROCTOR
ATTERBERG
LIMIT
GRAIN SIZE
Pmax
W% LL PL PI 3'1 1/2"
Nb
Specticatlsans
Nle
✓
N/ l lA tYl
NIA
lf
max, aif
SF -1
9/4/03
Lt. A subgrade acceptance form was prepared by Vector's CQA Monitor and
signed by GSE prior to geosynthetic placement. Subgrade acceptance forms are
presented in Appendix E.
4.3 Clay Liner
A 2 -feet thick clay liner layer was placed on the floor of WMU FU -03. Approximately
21,000 cy of material was utilized to construct the clay liner. The material was
transported from the clay stockpile located directly east of the cell using CAT 633
scrapers. The compaction of the liner soils was performed using a CAT 825 sheepsfoot
compactor. As each lift was placed, the CQA Monitor verified that the surface of the lift
was scarified and not smooth to assure that no distinct layers developed within the clay
liner and that the specified lift thickness was achieved.
Vector's CQA Monitor performed in-place density tests during clay liner construction,
using the nuclear density gauge. The clay liner was placed at a minimum of 90 percent of
0
Vector Engineering, Inc. - 143E Spring Hill Drive - Grass Valley, CA 95945 - (530) 272-2448
-12-
