The 16G blade began cutting the
sump area out of the south end of the FU-03 cell floor. The D6 dozer and the D5 dozer cut the west slope of
the FU-03 cell as one scraper hauled the excess cut material to the fill area on the floor. The other scraper
began hauling clay out of the stockpile to the east and placing it on the south floor. The 825 sheepsfoot
supplied compactive effort to the native clay.
In the mid morning,twenty-two(22)rolls of 60 mil double textured HDPE arrived on site, was logged in
and unloaded by GSE personnel. Also at this time,Bryan F. (Vector)informed me by phone that he had
received the survey data, talked with the project engineer and that it would be acceptable to go ahead and
begin clay placement. In the early afternoon, one truck with sixteen(16)rolls of geosynthetic clay liner
(GCL)and one truck with eleven(11)rolls of 60 mil HDPE arrived on site, the material was logged in and
were unloaded by GSE personnel. The foreman for GSE stated that they would be on site this week to
unload the various materials as they arrive on site.
Five(5)nuclear moisture density tests were performed at random locations and elevations on the clay
liner placed. All tests passed the 90 percent compaction specification and also passed in moisture content.
The on site foreman for Sukut was verbally informed of the test results. Four(4)drive tube permeability
samples were obtained for off site testing in the Vector laboratory. One(1) sample was taken for on site
moisture content to compare with the nuclear gauge.
On site lab testing of the native clay material continued with two(2)Proctor curves being performed.
AOL
pared By: Reviewed By:
4/23/03,Rev. 0 1 of 1
r-9
