Typical Wastes Acceptable at Class III Landfills Page 2 <br /> NOTE: Infectious wastes are actually classified as hazardous under CCR Title 22. <br /> Discharge of these wastes to Class 111 landfills must be approved by the local <br /> Environmental Health officer and must implement the applicable statutes and <br /> regulations. <br /> B. Agricultural Origin: <br /> 1. Plant residues from the production of crops including, but not limited to stalks,vines, green drops, <br /> culls, stubble, hulls, lint, untreated seed, roots, stumps, prunings, and trimmings. <br /> 2. Dried manures. <br /> 3. Dead animals and portions thereof. <br /> 4. Adequately cleansed pesticide containers provided that the following minimum criteria are met: <br /> a. Metal, plastic, and glass containers used for liquids or powders shall have�been processed by <br /> rinsing and draining or some other approved decontamination technique. The processing <br /> procedure shall include or be equivalent to at least triple rinsing with thorough draining and <br /> puncturing of the containers. Rinse waters produced shall be placed in the spray tank or <br /> disposed of in accordance with requirements of the Regional Board. <br /> b. Prior to any pesticide container disposal at the landfill the County Agricultural Commissioner <br /> must certify that such a processing program exists and is utilized by pesticide users in the <br /> county. <br /> c. Paper or plastic sacks and bags used for pesticide dusts and wettable powders are not to be <br /> disposed of at Class Ill landfills. <br /> Il. `INERT WASTES'—consist entirely of non-water soluble, non-decomposable inert solids. <br /> A. Construction and demolition wastes such as earth, rock(provided the earth and/or rock materials <br /> are not from a chemical spill, leaking underground tank or similar excavation/cleanup),concrete <br /> rubble, and asphalt paving fragments (provided the pavement had been in place for at least two <br /> rainy seasons;not fresh asphalt). <br /> B. Vehicle tires. <br /> C. Industrial wastes such as clay products from brick and pipe manufacturing,glass, and inert slags <br /> (provided the wastes are blemishes,seconds or rejects of similar product manufacturing and <br /> were never used or came in contact with chemical processing), inert tailings, inert rubber scrap, <br /> and inert plastics. <br /> III. MOISTURE LIMITATIONS— <br /> All <br /> IMITATIONS—All wastes must contain at least 50% solids and must not contain moisture in excess of the moisture-holding <br /> capacity of the landfill, either initially or as a result of waste management operations, compaction, or <br /> settlement. <br /> MHM/JBM 8/26/91 <br />
