Soil with Tars 6:1 Clean and Contaminated Soil 4:1 Shredded Tires 4:1 PGM 2.5:1 Com ostable Material 2.5:1 Treated Auto Shredder Residue 2.5:1 C&D Inert Material 2.5:1 Ash and Cement Kiln Dust 2.5:1 6.4.78 SPECIAL HANDLING PROCEDURES The following sections describe special handling procedures for land treatment units, sludge treatment and disposal and disposal methods for asbestos, ash and treated wood waste. 6.4.78.1 LAND TREATMENT UNITS Although most contaminated soils accepted at the existing Forward Landfill are disposed directly into Class II WMUs or are used as daily cover, Forward may occasionally choose to temporarily stockpile or treat certain contaminated soils. Soils that are temporarily stockpiled are typically those that have been received at the site without the required analytical testing documentation. The soils are stockpiled until the generator provides the necessary documentation. Once the documentation is received and depending on the test results, the soils are either disposed in an appropriate WMU or removed from the site by the generator. In order for Forward to process a request for treatment or disposal of contaminated soil, the potential disposer/generator must complete a waste characterization form and a contaminated soil description form (signed by a California Registered Geologist or California Professional Engineer), and submit copies of all state-certified laboratory results for the contaminated soils. In the past, Forward has implemented programs for treating both gasoline and nonvolatile petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil. A brief operations summary for treatment of both of these contaminated soil types follows.
