Forward should determine if it would be possible to collect discrete depth samples at
one or more of the NCYC wells. This may determine what water bearing zone or zones
contain VOCs.
In summary, the report demonstrates that the Austin Road corrective actions are making
better progress than was predicted in the 2001 Feasibility Study. Figures E-1, -2, and —3 are
misleading and should be revised to include data from wells 8106A and 7898A. The revised
figures should be submitted by 28 September 2007. Staff concurs with the locations for four
supplemental wells and recommends that Forward install proposed well AMW-17 at the same
time. Also, staff recommends that the NCYC investigation wells be designed in the field to
better monitor the aquifer zones transmitting VOCs toward the NCYC wells.
Staff looks forward to working with you in completing the cleanup of groundwater pollution at
the Austin Road Landfill site.
