FACT SHEET ON <br /> HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE <br /> • Hazardous wastes present a significant danger to both human health and the <br /> environment. Hazardous wastes, PCB wastes and universal wastes are, therefore, <br /> prohibited by law from disposal at sanitary landfills. <br /> • Typical household wastes that are considered to be hazardous include oil-based paint, <br /> paint thinner, solvents, household cleaners, furniture polish, flammable liquids, waste <br /> chemicals, poisons, and pesticides. <br /> • Information on the property disposal of household hazardous waste material is available <br /> by contacting the San Joaquin County, Environmental Health Department. <br /> • There are civil and criminal penalties for the improper disposal of hazardous wastes. <br /> • Household hazardous waste collection programs are periodically conducted by San <br /> Joaquin County, , Environmental Health Department. <br /> • Visit the San Joaquin County website for more information.
