THIRD QUARTER 2007 GROUNDWATER TREATMENT FACILITY MONITORING REPORT FORWARD LANDFILL WDR ORDER NO.R5-2003-0080 All parameters other than dissolved inorganics were analyzed during third quarter 2007. Figure 1 (at the end of this report) shows the effluent monitoring location.Table 2 presents the results of the effluent monitoring performed during third quarter 2007. Appendix A contains the effluent monitoring field sampling logs and Iaboratory results for third quarter 2007. Notes: pg/L = micrograms per liter µmhos/cm = micromhos per centimeter The current WDRs stipulate that the concentration limit for VOCs in the effluent is non- detect.TCE was initially detected in the effluent sample collected on August 2,2007,at an estimated concentration (0.36 pig/L) slightly above the method detection limit(0.15 pg/L). The TCE detection appeared to be anomalous.TCE had not previously been detected in the GTF effluent. The CV Water Board was informed of the August effluent sample results on August 15,2007 (Burke,2007,personal communication). After discussions with the CV Water Board,a confirmation effluent sample was collected on August 16,2007, and the GTF was then shut down.On August 16,2007,the analytical laboratory reported that the TCE detection in the August 2 effluent sample was the result of carryover from a previously analyzed sample. The laboratory reanalyzed the August 2,2007,effluent sample within holding time on August 16,2007,and no VOCs were detected.The laboratory issued an amended analytical report for the August 2,2007, sample results.The laboratory analyzed the confirmation effluent sample on August 17,2007,using a same-day turnaround time and no VOCs were RDD/072830006(CLR3709.DOC) 4
