Sampling Equipment
j
Interim gas smpling probes were used to monitor subswfice gases at thelandfill
Each probe perimeter.
consists of a S-foat long, YS-inch diameter stainless steel pipe, with 1-inch hales
staggeredevery 2 ' es at thebottom l inches,to allaw for es'to inigratt into the prof. A
pointed tip was welded to the end of the probe for better penetration.
A ball valve and brass fitting were installed at the top of each probe to
contain gas pressures and
facilitate instrument hook-up to the probe. The valves were left closed ezc t during monitoring
or instrument reading. Each probe is tagged with a brass plate and identified as "GP-1" through
-GP-10-
A GA-90 Landtec -red•Gas Analyzer was used to monitor methane, carbon.dioxide.(CO.,
and oxygen(O.)levels at each probe location The analyzer was calibrated for methane,CO2and
02 prior to use in the field..Cahbration.logs are.included.in this report,-
Gas Monitoring
Ambient air measurements of methane, oxygen, carbon dio)a '
"de; and me#zic•pressure•were r
taken at each gas probe location. Those readings were recorded and the instrument- was=mn
ected to the probe. "The valve was opened and pr-Dbe.gas pressure measurements were taken.
The probe was then. purged fortwo. pobe volumes.
Readin6 VA= then doIlected at
4PrOximately 30- to nd int ..a stable was .obtained... These
measurements of methane, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and ambient barometric pressure v+tre then recorded. Monitoring was also conducted at various locations inbuilding sites for the
•Presence of methane gas. Monitoring was conducted at the office trailer at the 4CIA=Ce to the
landfin, trailer boxes at the service shop, and trailer boxes at the transfer building. These
locations were monitored for any gas pockets at the foundation and near atryppenin.g from the
Boor such as piIjing holes, electrical conduits,or floor cracks.
LYS
LYsilnete7rs were sampled using the following sta6dard protocol:
1. Frier to sampffng ly ° eters,the pressure-vacuum equipment is checked•and cleamed.
&O-FO 112314
A•12 hely 14,2040
. .tae.
