Construction Activities
I . Guinn Construction continued placement of Subgrade Fill soils in the northern to south-central floor
areas of FU- 10. Four scrapers continue placing 8" loose lifts, with moisture conditioning by 2 water
trucks; compaction is achieved by the 815 sheepsfoot and traffic. Materials are being collected from
the borrow SE of the cell and also from the ramp area along the south end termination. The contractor
is starting to shape the high/low portions of the floor area. About 5,000cy was placed on the floor
today; about 22,500cy to date.
2. Guinn Construction continued exposing the tie-in along the south end of FU -08 (filter geotextile,
plywood and LCRS drain gravel), using the 321C excavator and a spotter while working around the
leachate collection tanks.
11. CQA Activities
1. CQA performed 5 nuclear method moisture -density tests in compacted Subgrade Fill placed in the
floor areas of FU -10. Tests SF -28 through SF -32 indicated passing results. Collected "grab" moisture
sample at test location SF -29 for correlation with the nuclear gauge using oven and microwave drying
methods.
2. CQA prepared and completed ASTM D I 557A Proctor on Subgrade Fill Sample SFS -2.
3. CQA shipped a 5 gallon bucket of Coarse Gravel sample CG- 1, and a 5 gallon bucket of Granular
Drainage Material sample GD-AusencoVector for laboratory permeability tests.
4. CQA completed a sieve analysis, ASTM D422, on Subgrade Fill sample SFS- 1.
0 With Erik 01h1ffer, AusencoVector soils laboratory, Re: CQA shipped samples of Coarse Gravel and
Granular Drainage Material for permeability tests.
07/08/10
1 of 2
C-2
Reviewed By:/t(
