Mr. Robert McClellon
May 28, 2009
Page 2
25; and GP -3 and GP -4 are in compliance according to the California Code of
Regulations (CCR) Title 27, Section 20925(b). However, the EHD determined the
spacing between GP -16 and GP -17; and GP -24 and GP -25 are both in excess of 1000
feet, and thus out of compliance. The EHD has requested a revision to the work plan
showing the installation of probes between GP -16 and GP -17, and between GP -24 and
GP -25. The updated probe spacing distances are included in Table 1.
2. In previous correspondence from the EHD, concerns were identified regarding the vacant
residential structure east of the site. As cited in the letter, the EHD still considers this
structure as a concern, but because the landfill activity is over 1000 feet away, and the
spacing between the adjacent gas probes GP -1 and GP -25 was determined by the EHD to
be in compliance, a probe is no longer required between GP -1 and GP -25. However, the
EHD indicated that a probe between GP -1 and GP -25 will be required when a landfill cell
is constructed within 1000 feet of unoccupied residence.
The following is an updated version of the revised work plan previously submitted on December
8, 2009, addressing the installation of the perimeter gas probes.
r:
11
