2. Drainage
Stormwater is directed to one of four culvert inlets (see Figure 3-1 in SWPPP)
or to the sedimentation pond. The culvert inlets and sedimentation pond are
maintained and monitored in accordance with the SWPPP. The culvert inlets
and sedimentation pond will be inspected prior to the rainy season and any
debris or deleterious materials that could inhibit drainage will be cleared from
the basin or culvert inlets.
The SWPPP requires routine inspections and also inspections during
extended storm events and following rainfall events, which result in runoff.
Each inspection must note needed maintenance, repairs, and effectiveness of
each BMP. When deemed necessary, changes to improve sediment control
must be identified for implementation.
During the wet season, the SWPPP requires visual observation of storm
water discharges from one storm event per month. The visual observations
occur during the first hour of discharge and at all discharge locations. The
four separate culvert inlets within the closure area are the only discharge
locations with potential for visual observation of non -contained observable
flows. Visual observation of stored or contained storm water will occur at the
time of release.
3. Leachate
In accordance with the BMPs in the SWPPP, FCL is routinely inspected for
leachate seeps from the landfill slopes. If seeps are observed, the site
engineer will be contacted and the cause of the seep will be investigated.
The LEA will also be notified.
