Leachate samples were collected on a monthly basis and analyzed in the field for pH,
specific conductance, and temperature. Results of monthly field monitoring
measurements for the third quarter 2012 are presented in Table 2-6.
Value Engineering conducted a gat test of the leachate collection and removal system
(LCRS) on September 7, 2012 at the Forward Unit. The test results indicate that an open-
air conduit is present across the LCRS units, and no excessive leachate is backed up in
the drainage layer or sump of the LCRS units. A summary of the test results is provided
in Appendix A.
gM m T.&I 4TIM a 1
Site run-on and run-off control facilities are designed to effectively channel surface water
to site stormwater/sedimentation ponds. According to the Operations Manager, there
were no discharges to surface water during the reporting quarter. On August 14, 2012,
Del -Tech reported that both surface -water monitoring stations FSW- I and FSW-2 were
dry.
For the Forward Unit, no significant changes in the water quality analytical results were
noted. During the third quarter 2012 monitoring period, PCE was measured at an
estimated trace concentration in the sample collected from well MW -14. No other VOCs
were detected in the Forward Unit groundwater monitoring wells. CLs were exceeded
for one or more inorganic constituents in wells MW -2A, MW -3, MW -13, MW -14, MW -
15, MW -18, and MW -19. Excluding non -impact constituents, confirmation sampling for
calcium, chloride, and potassium in well MW -13; chloride in well MW -13; and for
calcium, magnesium, and sodium in well MW -18 will be performed in November 2012
during the fourth quarter 2012 monitoring event, and in December 2012. The results of
the confirmation sampling will be provided under separate cover.
I 119110911
ELI=
During the third quarter 2012, depth -to -water measurements were recorded and the
Austin Unit's DMP and CAP groundwater monitoring wells were sampled by Del -Tech
on August 15, and September 11, 2012. All domestic wells and surface water stations
were sampled on August 27, 2012.
Samples were collected from each sample point with sufficient liquid and submitted to
BC for analysis of the parameters stipulated in RWQCB Order No. R5-2003-0049. Table
2-1 presents the monitoring schedule and summarizes the analytical methods utilized
during the current monitoring period. Water quality samples were also analyzed in the
CA2012-0025TA 3QI2.doe 7 Geo -Logic Associates
