Final Construction Quality Assurance Report—WMU FU -13
Forward Landfill
• 3.0 CONSTRUCTION QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM
3.1 CONSTRUCTION COMPONENTS
GLA provided CQA services on both earthworks and geosynthetic components of the WMU FU -
13 construction. The earthwork tasks included excavation, buttress and subgrade fill, low
permeability soil liner placement, granular drainage materials installation, and protective
operations layer placement. The geosynthetics tasks included installing the geosynthetic clay
liner (GCL), high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane, geocomposite, geogrid, and
geotextile.
3.2 CQA DOCUMENTATION
CQA documentation was prepared by GLA as part of the prescribed CQA duties and consisted of
a system of daily record keeping including daily progress reports and a record of various test
data sheets pertinent to the soils and geosynthetic components of the liner system.
Tables 1 and 2, included in this report summarize the soils and geosynthetics testing
requirements per the CQA Manual and Technical Specifications. Within each of the tables,
. information on the construction material type, the total quantity of material placed on the
project, the test designation to be performed, the specified testing frequency, the required
number of tests to be conducted, the actual number of tests conducted, and the actual testing
frequency is listed. As shown on the tables, the actual materials testing frequency on the
project satisfies the number of tests required by the CQA Manual. These tables are part of
GLA's internal quality control program to ensure that the testing and required testing
frequencies are satisfied on the project.
Other CQA documentation with respect to test data and observation sheets are discussed
within the following sections. Copies and summaries of various data for the soils and
geosynthetics components monitored and physically tested by GLA are included in various
appendices of this report. Documentation of the conformance tests for the geosynthetic
components is also presented.
3.3 DESIGN MODIFICATIONS
During the construction of WMU FU -13, modifications to the contract drawings and
specifications occurred. The approved modifications during construction of WMU FU -13 are
included in Appendix A and are described below:
•
Geo -Logic
ASSOCIATES
