Material control tests are
performed before construction to check that the materials proposed for use will comply with the
Specifications. Control tests are performed by the Contractor for material to be supplied by the
Contractor and by the QA/QC Consultant for materials that are to be supplied by the Owner.
Acceptance tests are performed and/or supervised by the QA/QC Consultant throughout construction
to verify that the components are constructed in compliance with the Construction Drawings and
Specifications.
Tables 3-1 through 3-9 establish the control and acceptance test frequencies for earthwork. The test
frequencies listed establish a minimum number of required tests. Extra testing must be conducted
whenever work or materials are suspect, marginal, or of poor quality. Extra testing may also be
performed to provide additional data for engineering evaluation. Any re -tests performed as a result
of a failing test do not contribute to the total number of tests performed in satisfying the minimum
test frequency.
0 Page 13
