and treat CAP. Since groundwater from the Forward Unit flows toward the Austin Unit, if
additional groundwater impacts are identified, it is likely that this would necessitate expansion of
the existing CAP in order to capture the breadth of the potential release plume. Assuming that the
groundwater impacts are similar to the impacts currently existing at the Austin Unit, the additional
CAP measures might include: installation of one groundwater extraction well and up to 10 gas
extraction wells.
As shown in Tables 1 and 2, it is estimated that the costs to implement the groundwater
mitigation measures described in Section 5.3 would be approximately $317,900, with an
additional $8,986 for annual operation and maintenance. This total is intended to provide a
basis for compliance with 27CCR Chapter 6, Subchapter 2, Article 4 financial assurance
requirements. This cost estimate takes into account typical well construction and appurtenant
costs. The cost estimate recognizes the relative high density of existing downgradient wells at
the site, the on-going CAP and EMP monitoring programs, and anticipates that no additional
investigative or monitoring measures would be required to evaluate a release or monitoring its
mitigation.
This report was prepared at the request of Forward, Inc. solely for the purpose of fulfilling the
requirements as specified in 27CCR. It is based on limited data described above and referenced
herein. Geo -Logic Associates should be notified of any conditions that differ from those described
herein since this may require a re-evaluation of the data and conclusions presented herein. This
report has not been prepared for use by other parties and projects other than those named or
described above. It may not contain sufficient information for other parties or other purposes.
This report has been prepared in accordance with generally accepted geotechnical and
hydrogeologic practices, and makes no other warranties, either expressed or implied, as to the
professional data presented in it.
Geo -Logic Associates
ki,
William B.
