' temperatures in January average between 35 and 40°F, with maximum
temperatures in the mid-50s.
Rainfall is seasonal , with 90 percent of the precipitation occurring
from October to May. The annual precipitation for the area averages
between 14 and 16 inches per year, according to the U.S. Geological
' Survey Central Sierra Subregion isohyetal map. The mean annual Pan A
evaporation based on the Lodi evaporation station records is approxi -
mately 68 inches, with a 1-inch minimum in December and an 11-inch
maximum in July.
' Data collected from 1941 to 1945 at the nearby Stockton wind monitor-
ing station show winds blowing most frequently from the west
' (18.8 percent of the time) and northwest (15.5 percent of the time) ,
with calm periods 9.8 percent of the time (see Figure 3) .
2.4 LAND USE
' The site currently is used predominantly for livestock grazing. A
large portion of the site is irrigated for that purpose. In the
extreme northeast corner of the site, two houses are rented and occu-
pied by the former landowner and family. Other structures in that
' portion of the site include two barns adjacent to the homes, several
corrals, and a high-voltage transmission line traversing the site in a
' southeast/northwest direction approximately 1,300 feet from the north-
east corner of the property boundary.
' The San Joaquin County Land-Use Map designates the site and its sur-
roundings as general agriculture land (GA-40 zoning designation) . In
addition to livestock grazing, several areas are developed for the
cultivation of crops, chiefly grapes. Approximately 20 residences are
within 1 mile of the site; the majority are near either Tully Road or
Harney Lane.
' PJ9 9390209A.00D 5
' EfY1COf1 Associates__J
