' 4.0 DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION PROVISIONS
' 4. 1 LANDFILL PLANS
' This section details the elements comprising the proposed landfill
site development plans. The plans are based on hydrogeologic, engi-
neering, and environmental assessment data used to design the features
needed to comply with the development requirements for a sanitary
landfill .
The final grading plan, excavation and preparation plan, fill sequence
sections, and details are presented on Drawings 1 through 4. The
drawings show the configuration of the completed landfill and con-
struction details for the project.
4. 1 . 1 Grading Plan
The proposed landfill configuration, shown on Drawing 1, is influenced
primarily by surrounding topography and maximum landfill heights set
by the County. The landfill 's maximum fill height will rise approxi-
mately 65 feet above the existing ground.
' A permanent berm will be constructed around the landfill perimeter.
This berm defines the limits of the landfill and protects the landfill
' from contributory surface water (run-on) that might enter the site
boundary. The berm is set back 100 feet from the property line to
provide a buffer zone. This minimum setback will allow perimeter
' drainage and monitoring facilities to be constructed.
' Minimum final landfill slopes of 3 percent will be maintained to pro-
vide adequate drainage and prevent ponding after anticipated settle-
ment of wastes underlying the upper landfill slopes. Drainage swales
will be necessary at three locations to limit final landfill height
' and maintain minimum landfill slopes.
