II . SITE DESCRIPTION
A. LOCATION AND ACCESS
The Landfill Development Site is located in northeast San Joaquin
County, approximately 8-1/2 miles east of the City of Lodi (see Fig-
ure 1) . The site lies in the east one-half of Section 21 , 173N, ME,
as identified on the Linden, California U.S. Geological Survey topo-
graphic quadrangle, a portion of which is shown on Figure 2. Access
to the site is from Harney Lane, approximately 1-1/2 miles east of the
intersection of Harney Lane and Tully Road.
B. TOPOGRAPHY AND SITE CONDITIONS
The Landfill Development Site and surrounding area consists primarily
of gently rolling pastureland. Two branches of South Paddy Creek
traverse the north-central portion of the site. Ephemeral water in
these channels flows to the northwest. There are several ponds on the
site, two which are associated with the drainages and two which are
man-made.
Elevations at the site range from approximately 106 feet mean sea
level (MSL) in the northwest corner to 123 feet MSL in the southeast
corner (see Drawing 1) . Three gentle hills in the northern portion of
the site rise to elevations ranging from 118 to 124 feet MSL.
C. LAND USE
The site currently is used predominantly for livestock grazing. A
large portion of the site is irrigated for that purpose. There are
two residences in the extreme northeast corner of the site occupied by
the former landowner and family. Other structures in that portion of
the site include two barns adjacent to the homes and several corrals.
PJ9 9390206.00D 3
