11 *5 PROGRAM OBJECTIVES AND POLICIES <br /> Objective: Develop planning mechanisms to provide adequate facilities <br /> for management of hazardous wastes produced in the County. <br /> Policy: The County Planning Department and all the city Planning <br /> Departments shall incorporate the Hazardous Waste Management Plan into <br /> the County and City General Plans and adopt the necessary ordinances. <br /> The County Office of Emergency Services will perform a feasibility <br /> study to determine if a need exists to site a transfer station (or <br /> accumulation station) for public agency use. If the need exists, the <br /> County, in conjunction with the city planning departments and private <br /> industry, may site transfer stations within the County. One may be <br /> for public agencies' use (spill cleanup waste and hazardous wastes <br /> generated by maintenance and other activities) . <br /> The County Public Works Department shall cooperate with other counties <br /> in developing agreements to satisfy multicounty hazardous waste <br /> management needs. <br /> When such multicounty agreements are prepared, siting criteria shall <br /> be developed and candidate areas meeting those criteria shall be <br /> identified. The CHWMP will be amended to incorporate the criteria and <br /> candidate areas i.n accordance with AB 2948 procedures for amending the <br /> plan.
