6.0 PROJECTION OF HAZARDOUS WASTE GENERATION
IN THE COUNTY TO THE YEAR 2000
Approximately 20,482 tons of hazardous waste are projected to be
generated in County in the year 2000 (Table 6-6) Included in the
following sections are projections for hazardous wastes generated by
industries and households. In addition, projections for cleanup
wastes and new hazardous wastes are tabulated. Finally, projections
assuming implementation of waste minimization are presented.
6.1 PROJECTION OF HAZARDOUS WASTES PRODUCED BY MAJOR GENERATORS
The projected volume of waste to be produced by the major industrial
'_ and commercial generators in the year 2000 was estimated by
multiplying the volumes listed in Table 5-12 by economic growth
factors for industry groups. The growth factors listed below were
provided by the San Joaquin County Council of Government and the State
Department of Finance.
Economic Growth
Factor (for 1986
ndustry SIC Codes to 2000)
Agriculture, Mining, Other 07-14, 20-51 1 .22512
Manufacturing
Wholesale Trade, Transportation 01 , 02
Retail Trade 52-59 1 .35147
Finance, Insurance, Real Estate 75-97 1 .51959
Government
A population growth factor (1 .26339) was applied to the waste generat-
ed by miscellaneous generators categorized under Miscellaneous SIC.
1 .
