a
All sampling containers will be pre -labeled with preservatives infor-
mation prior to initiating the sampling event. The labels will be
completed during sample collection. Containers will be placed on ice
immediately upon sampling until delivery to the laboratory. At the
time of sampling, the sample will be logged on a chain -of -custody
form, which will accompany the sample to the laboratory.
Sample containers will vary with each type of analytical parameter to
be tested. Selected container types and materials will be nonreactive
with the sample and the particular analytical parameter to be tested.
As noted, sample containers will be properly cleaned and sterilized
according to the EPA protocol for the specific analyses to be per-
formed. The container types that will be used during the Landfill
Development Site sampling events are shown on Table A-1. All samples
will be shipped on ice to EMCON's state -certified laboratory. Chain-
Affilk
of -custody documentation will accompany all sample containers.
ANALYTICAL PROCEDURES
The analyses of ground -water samples will be conducted in accordance
with accepted quantitative analytical procedures. The following four
publications are considered the primary references for ground -water
sample analyses, and the contract with the outside laboratory will
stipulate that these methods be used:
• Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Waste -
(American Public Health Association et al.,
16th edition, 1985)
• Methods for Chemical Analysis of Water and Wastes
(U.S. EPA, EPA -600/4-79/020, revised March 1979)
Methods Organic h.mApalysis of Municigal and
Industrial
1982)
PJ9 9390207.00D A-5
