The total quantity of solid wastes generated in the <br />County unincorporated area was calculated as follows: <br />Disposed + Diverted = Generated <br />Therefore, the following calculations have been made <br />based on year 1990 waste quantities: <br />Activity <br />Tons <br />Disposed <br />Transformed <br />10,726 <br />Landfilled <br />115,856 <br />Total Disposed <br />126,582 <br />Diverted <br />16.437 <br />Generated <br />143,019 <br />Of the County unincorporated area's total 1990 waste <br />stream, 11.5% was diverted by recycling and compost <br />activities, 7.5% diverted by transformation, and 81.0% was <br />disposed of at permitted sanitary landfills. <br />Table A I-17 presents the annual quantity of waste <br />diverted, disposed of, and generated by waste category and <br />type. The table also gives the percent of waste that was <br />diverted for each waste type and category and for the total <br />waste stream. <br />Appendix 1 32 <br />
