3 WASTE CLASSIFICATION AND MANAGEMENT <br /> 3.1 WASTE TYPES <br /> The NCRC&SL permitted as a Class III landfill, accepts mixed municipal solid wastes for <br /> disposal as well as diversion. The waste stream includes commercial and household waste, <br /> construction/demolition waste, and agricultural waste. <br /> Unacceptable wastes include septic tank waste; toxic materials; large dead animals, five-gallon <br /> (or larger) drums, infectious waste, liquid waste, cannery waste, hazardous waste, large loads of <br /> soil or gravel, trailers, and burned waste. <br /> 3.1.1 Disposed Wastes <br /> The County disposes mixed municipal, commercial, and household waste, as well as <br /> demolition/construction materials. The County also intends to dispose of dewatered wastewater <br /> treatment sludge. <br /> 3.1.2 Recycled Materials <br /> The County recycles white goods (such as refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units), <br /> lumber, tires, and small quantities of soil or gravel, electronic wastds including cathode ray <br /> tubes, triple rinsed pesticide containers, and small quantities of special wastes (latex paint, oil, <br /> antifreeze, and batteries). Metals, wood materials, and other recyclable items are recycled at the <br /> Recycling Center. <br /> The County also offers recycled paint for sale at the Recycling Center. <br /> 3.2 WASTE QUANTITIES <br /> The 2003-2004 waste disposal summaries at the NCRC&SL are shown in Table 1. The waste <br /> projection is shown on Plate 4.
