C7 <br />0 <br />C <br />C <br />L� <br />rl <br />u <br />Ll <br />Ll <br />L <br />Sampling and Analysis Chain-of-Custody.Record <br />The sampling and analysis chain -of -custody record is initiated at the time of sampling and contains, <br />but is not limited to, the well number, sample type, analytical request, date of sampling, and the name <br />of the sampler. The record sheet is signed, time logged, and dated by the sampler when transferring <br />the samples. Custody transfers are recorded for each individual sample; for example, if samples are <br />split and sent to more than one laboratory, a chain -of -custody record sheet will accompany each <br />sample. The number of custodians in the chain of possession will be kept to a minimum. A copy of <br />the sampling and analysis chain -of -custody record is returned to EMCON with the analytical results. <br />Groundwater Sampling and Analysis Request Form <br />A groundwater sampling and analysis request form (see Figure A-4) or purchase order, or both, <br />accompanies the samples delivered to each laboratory. These forms serve as official communication <br />to the laboratory of the particular analysis/analyses required for each sample. <br />At minimum, the groundwater sampling and analysis request form includes the following <br />information: <br />• Date submitted <br />• Specific analytical parameters <br />• Well number <br />• Sample source <br />ANALYTICAL METHODS <br />Samples collected as part of the monitoring program are analyzed consistent with accepted analytical <br />procedures. The following publications are the primary references for analytical procedures: <br />• Methods for Chemical Analysis of Water and Wastes, USEPA-600/4-79-020, revised <br />March 1983 <br />• Methods for Organic Chemical Analysis of Municipal and Industrial Wastewater, <br />USEPA-600/4-82-057, July 1982 <br />• Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Wastes: Physical/Chemical Methods, USEPA SW -846, <br />3rd edition, November 1986 <br />The laboratories selected to perform the analytical work are certified by the Department of Health <br />Services (DHS) for hazardous waste testing.
