I am pleased to report that groundwater contamination by the landfill is not indicated. Conditions of the ® groundwater are unremarkable, and consistent with previous quarters. Field and monitoring parameters are below concentration limits where limits could be established for all wells, with the exception of well G-1 where a slight exceedence for Sodium was reported. G-1 is the "background"well, indicating conditions beyond the landfill rather than impact to groundwater by our landfill. With the exception of false positives and similar sporadically reported compounds from lab or other contamination, VOC impact has not been indicated at well G-4 (the"impacted"well) since January 2003, over ten years ago. VOC impact has not been indicated at any other well at any time. Recently-reinstalled groundwater well G-1 continues to be free of impact, confirming our earlier conclusion that detections immediately after installation were due to compounds introduced during the construction of this well. The continuing presence of VOCs in the soil gas within our property and the continuing lack of VOCs to groundwater at any well seem to indicate that the presence of VOCs in the soil at these concentrations at this landfill does not threaten the groundwater. Full groundwater monitoring continues on a semi-annual basis (first and third quarters) in accordance with our Waste Discharge Requirements. Supplemental VOC analysis of groundwater also continues on a semi-annual basis (second and third quarters) in accordance with the revised Report of Waste Discharge. Secondary leachate sumps at Module 3 and 4 remain free of leachate. Module 1 is not provided with a secondary leachate,sump. tAnalysis of a storm water discharge sample is included in this report.
