Storm Water
Storm water was not sampled during this monitoring period due to lack of rainfall. Storm water
was last sampled from discharge point SW-4 at the north west corner of the Unit in April 2013
(Appendix C).
Surface Water
Surface water was not sampled this monitoring period due to lack of rain. Surface water
samples were last collected January 31, 2011. Samples are taken if sufficient water is present
at sampling points during the wet season.
Unsaturated Zone (Lysimeters)
The lysimeters did not yield enough water for sampling, indicating no detectable leaks from the
liner in those areas. Unsaturated zone monitoring will continue in accordance with the WDRs.
Soil Gas
Soil gas samples were collected on March 18, 2014. Methane was detected in SG-6.
VOCs were detected in three soil gas samples that were collected. VOCs were found in SG-1,
SG-3, and SG-6 (Table 4 and Appendix H). Continued absence of VOCs in the groundwater
suggests that the presence of VOCs in the soil at these concentrations does not pose a threat
to groundwater quality.
Leachate
Waste Discharge Requirements require monthly monitoring of leachate flow rate, pH, and
Electrical Conductivity (Table 1). In addition, the County is monitoring the quantity of liquid in
the secondary sump below Areas 3 and 4.
1 North County RC&SL Public Works/Solid Waste
1"Semiannual 2014 Groundwater Monitoring 6 County of San Joaquin—July 31,2014
