L
1
0
n
1
11
Any exploratory borings which are not completed as wells will be
destroyed under permit and inspection by the SJLHD.
B. DETECTION MONITORING SYSTEM
The detection monitoring program is intended to determine if waste
constituents have migrated from the landfill and to comply with
applicable SWAT and Subchapter 15, Section 2556(a) requirements. As
discussed in Section III.A., the system of ground -water monitoring
wells has been designed to detect the presence of leachate in ground
water immediately outside the landfill area.
Corral Hollow Creek is located approximately 200 feet south of the
landfill. Surface water will be sampled from one hydraulically
upgradient and one downgradient location in Corral Hollow Creek at the
locations indicated on Figure 1. Corral Hollow Creek is an intermit-
tent stream; if Corral Hollow Creek is dry at the time of sampling, no
surface water will be sampled. It should be noted that tailings piles
are located immediately south of Corral Hollow Creek in the vicinity
of the landfill. The proposed downgradient sampling location may
reflect input from these tailings piles.
C. WATER -QUALITY MONITORING PROGRAM
The water -quality monitoring program includes appropriate sampling and
analytical procedures that accurately measure waste constituents and
water quality. Analysis of ground water upgradient and downgradient
of the disposal site and surface water upstream and downstream should
provide a reliable indication of the impact of the disposal site on
water quality. Ground -water samples from the monitoring wells and the
surface -water samples will be analyzed for the following parameters,
which include those set forth in the October 1986 amended SWAT guide-
lines:
12
Emon Associates
