2.0 LANDFILL GAS CHARACTERIZATION
' The landfill gas characterization is based on analyses of samples
obtained from monitoring wells within the landfill and the integrated
' surface walk. This section describes the well and surface walk loca-
tions, well details, the integrated surface walk equipment, sampling
' and analysis procedures, and analytical results.
' 2.1 SAMPLING LOCATIONS
' 2.1.1 Landfill Gas Wells
Five monitoring wells were installed specifically for this ASWAT
study. Figure 1 shows the location of the monitoring wells. The
proposed locations of two wells (W-4 and W-5) were adjusted. Well W-4
was moved 300 feet south because its originsal location was in a soil
stockpile area. Well W-5 was moved 400 feet northwest because its
' original location was in an area that was being filled.
2. 1.2 Integrated Surface Walk
The surface of the Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill was investigated to
determine locations of potential gas seepage through the landfill
cover. A 50,000-square-foot grid was plotted for the walking pattern
' to be used while collecting the surface air sample. Figure 1 shows
the location of the integrated surface walk in the active landfill ,
' and Figure 5 of Appendix A illustrates a typical walking pattern.
2.2 WELL DETAILS
' The gas monitoring well construction details are presented in Appen-
dix C.
PJ9 9390304.00D 2-1 Rev. 0 09/20/88
