POSTCLOSURE LAND USE
The site's postclosure land use will be consistent with the surround-
ing terrain. The closed site will be maintained as unirrigated open
space.
POSTCLOSURE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
A postclosure maintenance program will be conducted by the site owners
to verify that the landfill cover retains its integrity. Surface
drainage ditches, final vegetated soil cover areas, and on-site access
roads will be routinely observed. Typically, an engineer and/or
technician will inspect site conditions quarterly along with the
conduct of the environmental monitoring programs. Any necessary
repairs will be performed as soon as possible.
The environmental monitoring program will consist of sampling gas
probes and ground-water monitoring wells. The gas probes will be
sampled and analyzed yearly. Gas analyses will consist of monitoring
the gas probes at the property boundary for combustible gas.
Cracks in the final cover caused by settlement will be sealed and any
erosion damage from extremely heavy rainfall will be repaired during
the maintenance program. Such actions should preclude problems asso-
ciated with leachate generation due to surface water infiltration, gas
venting through the cover, and insects and rodents attracted by
exposed refuse.
At least two permanent monuments will be installed on undisturbed nat-
ural terrain at the landfill to determine the location and elevation
of the wastes and monitoring wells throughout the postclosure mainte-
nance period. The monuments will be installed either by a licensed
land surveyor or registered civil engineer.
PJ9 9390310.00D 18
rmrnn nc.,•e
