' No volatile, semivolatile, or organochlorine pesticide/PCB compounds
were detected in the deep upgradient or deep downgradient wells with the
exception of bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (19 parts per billion (ppb)).
' The results of the laboratory blank sample analyzed with this sample
indicated the same compound at 77 ppb. Thus, this compound may be a
laboratory contaminant introduced during the analytical process (3).
' Concentrations of metals in shallow downgradient wells (MW-4 and MW-5)
were similar to those detected in the shallow upgradient well (SB-1).
For metals information, see Appendix C.
No volatile, semivolatile, or organochlorine pesticide/PCB compounds
were found above detection limits in the shallow upgradient well or the
shallow downgradient wells (3).
' Trichloroethane (TCA) was detected in the shallow (61 feet below ground
surface (bgs)) and deep (281 feet bgs) soil samples from boring MW-2 at
concentrations of 25 and 40 parts per billion, respectively. The
results of the laboratory blank sample analyzed with this sample
' indicated the presence of TCA at 10 parts per billion, suggesting that
this compound could be a laboratory contaminant. No semivolatile or
' organochlorine pesticide/PCB compounds were detected in the soil samples
from MW-2 or in other shallow or deep soil samples collected during the
SWAT program (3).
Toluene was detected in the deep soil sample taken at 201 feet bgs from
MW-1 at a concentration of 12 parts per billion. This compound was not
detected in shallow soil or in the groundwater sample from MW-1.
' Toluene was also not detected in any other deep or shallow soil sample.
Results of shallow and deep soil sampling and groundwater sampling
efforts are listed in Appendix C.
Analysis of the samples collected during the SWAT Program indicates that
no chemical compounds are present in the shallow perched and deep
regional aquifers, or in vadose soils. According to Emcon Associates,
' organic chemicals in soil or water samples can be accounted for through
3-2
' sa/tm/chl/si
