ERMDMG WASTE M
Warning is are often useful in identifying the waste type. Wording such as "harmfid if
inhaled% or "use only in a well ventilated y indicate a hazardous maWrial.
Additionally, physical signs such as odor or color may be used to identify a prohibited waste.
An incompatibility in waste type in a load may draw the attention of the inspector to the part of
the load that seems out of place. An example would be one or more 55 gallon drums within a
load of residential refuse, When any of the above is noted, the customer should be questioned
and additional assessment undertaken.
These observations, together with the customer's response to questions, may provide sufficient
data to prohibit a waste.
In some instances, the procedures described above may be insufficient to identify whether
waste can be accepted at the facility since it is the customer's responsibility to ensure that a
waste is permissible, the load-checking inspector may require that additional measures be
®
undertaken by the customer at the customer's expense prior to accepting the waste. When this
occurs, the customer will be advised to provide either written clarification by regulatory agencies
that the waste is non-hazardous, or provide an analysis by a state certified hazardous waste
laboratory.
The customer is responsible for obtaining the laboratory analysis and incurs all associated costs.
If prohibited wastes are discovered, the customer is informed that such wastes cannot be
accepted at the facility. Additionally, the customer is informed that the wastes must be removed
from the facility and arrangements must be made for their proper disposal.
Special caution will be taken when accepting wastes from sources that have previously attempted
to deliver hazardous wastes to the site. Repeat offenders will be banned from the site.
•
L"OJECr%3VAMRFMLMC C-6 DD=mbw 1.%IM
