Appendix C describes s the methodology used to generate,distribute and assign project generated
traffic to the transportation system. The basic steps include:
Data Collection - Determines the existing roadway and intersection traffic volumes;
Trio Generation - Determines the volume of vehicle trips generated by the project
altemative;
Background Traffic - Determines the volume of through traffic expected in the analysis
year without the project in place;
Trip Distribution - Determines the direction in which generated trips travel; and
Trip Assignment - Determines the volume of traffic accessing each street and adjacent
intersections.
Data Collection
On August 25, 1993 fuming movements at the following intersections were counted.
Corral Hollow Road and Unne Road
• Tracy Boulevard and Unne Road
MacArthur Road and Unne Road
Chrisman Road and Unne Road
•
Chrisman Road and 11 th Street
Twenty-four hour volumes were also collected for adjacent roadway segments on August 17,
1993. In addition, truck classification counts for 2,3, 4, and 5 or more axle trucks were collected
at the same locations on August 17, 1993. Locations of 24-hour vehicle and truck classification
counts are as follows:
Unne Road, West of MacArthur Road
• Unne Road, East of MacArthur Road
•
MacArthur Road, North of Unne Road
MacArthur Road, South of Unne Road
Chrisman Road, North of Unne Road
' Trip Gene on
EBA Wastechnologies provided the number of vehicle tips generated by the project categorised
i
