INSPECTIONS
The hazardous waste screening program is divided into three phases: an initial screening at the
facility entrance, a visual inspection of the waste by the station personnel as the waste is being
sorted and random load checking.
PHASE I Initial Waste Screening Program
Highly visible signs prohibiting the disposal of hazardous waste at the station will be
posted at the entrance.
When possible, loads will be visually inspected at the site entrance. The gate attendant
will be trained to recognize items that are not accepted at the station. A list of
unacceptable items will be posted in the gate house and is made available to the haulers.
Before a vehicle is turned away from the site, the following information shall be
recorded:
1. Date
2. Time
3. The hauling firm or vehicle owner's name
4. The driver's name
5. The company telephone number
6. Vehicle license plate number
7. Source of the waste as stated by the vehicle driver
This information will be recorded on the data form shown in Attachment 1. This form
will be signed by both the driver and the load-checking inspector.
This information can be used to identify the hauler if the load is illegally dumped.
PHASE H Visual Screening of Tipping Floor
The second phase of screening wastes shall be conducted by the station personnel while
sorting the waste. This is done not only to keep hazardous waste out of the landfill, but
for their own safety.
1A%OJ8CrOF?Affd1aCt4.TCV B-3 Plawahm 2.IM
