repaired as necessary. <br /> 5.3 Vegetation <br /> The vegetative cover layer of Bromme grass will be inspected to <br /> confirm that the vegetation is thriving and. protecting slopes from <br /> erosion. If necessary, an irrigation system can be installed, or <br /> an alternate vegetation type will be selected that will thrive in <br /> the environment. Any dead vegetative areas will be reseeded <br /> annually. <br /> 5.4 Leachate <br /> Due to the conditions mentioned in section 2 . 1 of this Postclosure <br /> Plan, a leachate control system is not feasible or necessary and <br /> will not be installed at the Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill. As <br /> a result, maintenance and monitoring will not be required. <br /> 5.5 Landfill Gas <br /> Landfill gas levels during postclosure will be monitored quarterly <br /> at the perimeter monitoring network to determine if gas is <br /> migrating off site. Monitoring frequency may be reduced if <br /> previous monitoring results show that landfill gas is not migrating <br /> off site. The gas monitoring probes will be surrounded with <br /> barrels or fence for protection. <br /> 5. 6 Groundwater <br /> Groundwater monitoring will continue on a quarterly basis for the <br /> 30 year postclosure period. The parameters that will be tested are <br /> listed in the Waste Discharge Requirements (Appendix B) issued by <br /> the Regional Water Quality Control Board in 1988. The testing <br /> parameters and frequencies may change in accordance with Title 23 , <br /> Chapter 15, Article 5 which was revised on June 30, 1991. The <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board will issue revised Waste <br /> Discharge Requirements to conform to the new Article 5. <br /> 5.7 Final Grading <br /> Final grading will be inspected quarterly by an engineer for <br /> ponding and minimized erosion. Corrective measures will be taken <br /> if the site face is not draining properly. <br /> 5.8 Vadose Zone Monitoring <br /> Article 7.8, section 17781(c) (2) states that "The operator shall <br /> design and operate a vadose zone monitoring system to detect the <br /> escape of leachate from the waste in accordance with Title 23 , CCR, <br /> Subchapter 15, Section 2559". Subchapter 15, section 2559 (a) <br /> states that "Class I and Class II waste management units and Class <br /> III landfills with liners shall have an unsaturated zone monitoring <br /> 9 <br />
