three percent as required by the regulations. Storm water runoff
from the top of the landfill is directed to the intercept berms
with V-ditches that encircle the landfill at approximately mid-
slope. The drainage ditch built into the intercept berms is
typically graded at 0.2 percent. The intercept berms convey the
runoff to the lower perimeter ditch system, which in turn conveys
the water to one of the detention basins via either a culvert
crossing or direct V-ditch.
The upper and western portions of the site are drained to the
detention basin located in the western corner of the site
(Detention Basin A, Drawing 3) . Runoff coming from the intercept
berm along the east, west, and south side slopes is directed to the
western detention basin via a culvert crossing (Culvert B, Drawing
3) . Runoff coming from the intercept berm along the north side
slope is also directed to Detention Basin A via Culvert A (Drawing
3) . All lower portions of the site except for the western side,
drain to Detention Basin B, located in the southeastern corner of
the site by means of perimeter V-ditches along the toe of the
slope. As necessary, water in Detention Basin A is pumped into the
perimeter drainage channel leading into Detention Basin B. Water
collected in Detention Basin B can be pumped as necessary, into
Corral Hollow Creek just south of the basin by portable pump.
7
