FINAL GRADING
The final top surface landfill cover was constructed to a minimum
three percent grade. These slopes are designed to provide proper
drainage, prevent high velocity overland flow, and prevent slope
reversal due to landfill settlement.
The maximum slopes (near southwest corner) are graded at a ratio of
3 .5 feet horizontally for every 1 foot of vertical lift (3 . 5: 1) .
Settlement is monitored by taking the following steps:
1. Maintaining two permanent monuments.
2. Every five years, commencing upon completion of
closure activities:
A. Perform an aerial survey of the site.
B. Provide a topographic map with a maximum
contour interval of two feet.
C. Provide an iso-settlement map showing the change in
elevation from the map produced at the time of closure
and the most recent topographic map with a maximum
contour interval of two feet.
AUk
5
