Box 1810 tater MIT/SERVICES
Stockton, CA 95201
MEETING FOLLOW-UP AND REVIEW OF THIRD QUARTER, FOURTH QUARTER AND
ANNUAL 2010 GROUNDWATER AND SURFACE WATER MONITORING REPORT FOR
THE CORRAL HOLLOW SANITARY LANDFILL, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Thank you for meeting with us on 22 February 2011 to discuss additional corrective action for
the Corral Hollow Landfill. As we discussed in our meeting, groundwater beneath the site
continues to be affected by a release from the WMU. Contributing to the groundwater
pollution is the waste identified outside of the WMU and also within the adjacent property
owned by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Although the WMU is an
unlined landfill, the Discharger believes the impacts to groundwater are related to landfill gas
and as such, has increased collection of landfill gas (LFG) along the northeastern boundary of
the site. However, the additional LFG wells installed during 2008 do not appear to be abating
groundwater pollution observed in wells MW-5 and MW-8. Therefore, as discussed during
thte meeting, staff are preparing an order for technical reports pursuant to California Water
Code section 13267. The Order will be issued to both San Joaquin County Department of
Public Works and Caltrans, with a schedule for each party to perform additional corrective
action design and evaluation monitoring, as appropriate.
Central Valley Water Board staff has reviewed the Third Quarter, Fourth Quarter and Annual
2010 Groundwater Monitoring Reports for the Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill. The reports
were submitted in accordance with Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs) Order R5-01-176
and meet the reporting requirements established in the Monitoring and Reporting Program
R5-01-176. The Monitoring and Reporting Checklist is attached for your review.
Please call Todd Del Frate at 916-464-4737 or myself at 916-464-4740 if you have questions.
r
r
ANNE L.
