4. Refuse <br />The landfills contain household refuse, demolition debris, tree trimmings, and <br />miscellaneous refuse. To the best knowledge of the Owner, hazardous materials <br />have not been disposed at the site. However, material that is currently defined as <br />hazardous waste, such as paint, insecticides, etc., may have been included in <br />household waste disposed at the site. The Owner does not certify that hazardous <br />materials were excluded at all times from disposed refuse. <br />Potential hazards associated with the direct contact with refuse include biological <br />infection and contact with household hazardous waste. <br />5. Disposal of Excavated Refuse <br />Complying with regulations regarding exposed refuse is of the essence in this <br />contract. Contractor shall remove refuse excavated during drilling or other activities <br />to the active working face of the landfill, and shall deposit it as directed by landfill <br />operations personnel. <br />The Contractor shall remove excavated refuse and residual refuse from the landfill <br />surface, and deliver this refuse to the active landfill face by 3:00 p.m. of the day in <br />which the refuse was excavated. The Contractor shall cover refuse not delivered to <br />the active face by the time identified with 10 mil plastic or equivalent, and shall <br />secure the edges of the cover to the satisfaction of the Engineer. Refuse covered <br />by plastic shall be removed to the active landfill face by 10:00 the next day. <br />Workers will be allowed on site to deliver plastic -covered refuse to the active face on <br />Saturday mornings, if so requested by the Contractor. Such activity will not be <br />counted as a working day. <br />6. Open Trenches and Uncompleted LFG Well Bore Hole <br />Contractor shall cover open trenches in which refuse is exposed by a tarp and <br />cordon the work area with safety cones and caution tape at the end of the work <br />day. Contractor shall backfill trenches containing refuse within 24 hours of initial <br />excavation. Access to the site during Saturdays or Sundays will not be allowed <br />for the purpose of backfilling trenches. <br />Contractor shall place 8'x4'x Y2" inch thick sheet of plywood with weights may be <br />placed over uncompleted LFG well boreholes. The drilling auger may also be left <br />in the borehole with its top covered. <br />E. Documents On Site <br />Contractor shall maintain a complete set of contract documents on site. Contract <br />documents include signed contracts, Standard specifications book, construction <br />drawings and specifications associated with each maintenance task. <br />On -Call LFG System Maintenance Contractor <br />San Joaquin County Purchasing Department <br />
