the flare station by automatic pneumatic condensate sumps (Figure 2). The collected LFG
is transported to the flare station where it is burned in a temperature-controlled flare.
1.3.A FLARE SYSTEM
The LFG flare is a "Triton" model manufactured Landfill Gas and Energy(LFG&E)
on a prefabricated skid. The major components of the flare skid are:
i
a. Flare control and monitoring instrumentation
I
b. Knock-out pot(KOP)
c. Two multi-stage centrifugal suction blowers. The blowers are connected in
parallel configuration and one blower operates at a time while the other is used i
as a standby. i
d. Flame arrestor
3
e. Enclosed flare.
f
f. Compressed air supply, including:
i. Reciprocating air compressor
ii. Refrigerant dryer
iii. Coalescing and particulate filters.
g. Condensate injection system. Condensate collected in the LFG headers is
pumped from the LFG piping to a 1000-gallon double-walled condensate
storage tank located in the flare station. Condensate is disposed in the flare by
injecting it into the flame through a high-pressure electric pump. I
A detailed description of equipment and components on the flare skid is provided
in CHSL's Triton Gas Flare System operation and maintenance (O&M) manual,
available on request.
2.0 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
' From 2001, O&M of CHSL's LFGCS has been a part of the postclosure maintenance of the
landfill. Monitoring, maintenance, and reporting of the LFGCS is in accordance with the
applicable sections of Title 27 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR), San Joaquin Valley
Air Pollution Control District(SJVAPCD)permit#N-4363-2-0,the federal landfill New Source
Performance Standards (HSPS), Emission Guidelines (EG), and National Emission Standards for
Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP), and other applicable rules or regulations. Operation of the
' flare in particular is subject to the requirements of SJVAPCD Rule 4642.
County
LFG Operation And Maintenance Pan San Joaquin
Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill 7 Public Works Department
March 31,2008 Solid Waste Division
