6. Puncture opposite end of seam to release air. If blockage is present, locate and <br />test the seam on both sides of blockage. <br />7. Remove needle or other approved pressure feed device and then repair the <br />penetration holes. <br />3.15 SPARK TESTING PENETRATIONS OR OTHER DIFFICULT AREAS OR AS AN <br />ALTERNATIVE TO VACUUM TESTING. <br />A. Equipment and Materials. <br />1. 24 -gauge copper wire. <br />2. Low -amperage electric detector, 20,000 to 30,000 volt, with brush -type <br />electrode capable of causing visible arc up to 3/4 inch from copper wire. <br />B. Spark Testing Procedures. <br />1. During extrusion welding, place a copper wire within 1/4 inch of the edge of <br />extrusion weld. <br />2. Pass electrode over seam area and observe for spark. If a spark is detected <br />perform a repair. <br />92 r _11 a 0 W W11 14'"'M <br />A. Perform the following tests witnessed by the CQA Monitor. <br />B. Perform peel and shear tests on two specimens obtained from each end of a seam <br />welded between panels (4 specimens per seam). <br />C. Perform peel tests on one specimen taken from each butt seam. <br />D. Perform peel and shear tests on one specimen taken from each 1,000 feet of seam (2 <br />specimens per 1,000 feet of seam). <br />E. L Additional destructive test specimens may be obtained at the discretion of the CQA <br />Monitor due to suspected contamination of the weld area, excess crystalline, offset <br />welds, or other suspected defects. <br />F. Perform peel and shear tests in compliance with ASTM D6392. All destructive peel <br />and shear tests are considered passing when all specimens from each test location <br />meet required results listed in paragraph 3.3 of this Section. <br />G.
