coseismic rupture, average dip of rupture plane, shear wave velocity to a depth of
30 m, and
depth to 2.5 km/s shear-wave velocity horizon. Information on magnitude, depth to top of
coseismic rupture and fault dip were obtained from the USGS 2008 National Seismic Hazard
Maps—Fault Parameters. Please reference Appendix A for fault parameters used. The distance to
the surface projection of the coseismic rupture was taken to be the shortest distance from the site
to the fault. Distance to the coseismic rupture was estimated to be the same as the distance to the
coseismic rupture surface projection because depth to top of coseismic rupture is not significant
when compared to distances to the fault for all fault/fault zones, with exception to the Great
Valley fault. The shear wave velocity in the upper 30 m of the site was taken to be the shear
wave velocity in rock, which was set at 760 m/s by Campbell-Bozorgina. The depth to the 2.5
km/s shear wave horizon was set to its default value. Once all parameters were input the model
was run, and the output was generated. Output is given as PGA (g) along with a graph of 5%
Dampened Pseudo-Absolute Acceleration Response Spectrum for a period of 0.01 through 10 s.
Please reference Appendix B for NGA model outputs. Results of the NGA determination of the
PGA created by each fault/fault zone are presented below:
Table 2
Summary of PGA Based on Developed MPEs for Site Adjacent Faults
Corral Hollow Landfill
San Joaquin County, CA
Fault/Fault MPE PGArock( )
Zone Name a nitue
Greenville 7.0 0.21
Calaveras 7.0 0.09
Hayward 7.3 0.08
San Andreas 8.1 0.07
San Gregorio 7.5 0.05
Orti alita 7.1 0.07
Green Valley 6.8 0.06
Coast.Range
Central Valley 6.9 0.56
GV7
Note: PGA is based on very conservative Maximum
Probable Earthquake scenarios
4.0 Conclusion
Based on the results of NGA modeling we have determined that the site response will be
governed by the Great Valley fault, segment 7.
