Monitoring was performed in accordance with the monitoring
program included with the Waste Discharge Requirements ( DRs) approved by the
Regional Water Quality Control Board for this site.
The results of this quarter's monitoring are consistent with previous quarters. Deep
aquifer wells MW-6 and MW-7 and shallow aquifer wells SB-1 or MW-4 remain without
impact. Shaw reports that no general water quality parameters were exceeded this
quarter with the exception of Bicarbonate Alkalinity in SB-1 and MW-4. Because there is
no primary or secondary maximum contaminant limit (MCLs) for this parameter, this does
not represent a potential human health risk.
This report includes the second periodic data from the three newly-installed wells. Data
from these wells show VOC concentrations below 1 ppb, with most reported as "trace".
Based on the data available, it appears that the groundwater outside our property meets
drinking water standards. These data allowed Shaw to assess the extent of the release
for PCE (Figure 5).
We continue to see improvement in the inorganic parameters at MW-4 that we attribute to
grading improvements`in late 2003. This continuing improvement seems to indicate that
the lack of closure cover over small portions of the refuse at the eastern edge of the
landfill is not negatively impacting groundwater at this time.
TO-14 analyses of soil gas will be included in this report, along with concentrations of
major gasses (02, CO2, CH4, and N2) per your request.
