t
PURPOSE
The purpose of this Postclosure Maintenance plan PCMP addendum is to present
postclosure maintenance tasks for the extended closure cap at the northeastern side of
Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill (CHSL). This addendum follows the organization of the
initial Postclosure Maintenance Plan certified November 18, 1992.
Sections of the original PCMP are revised to reflect the closure cap extension project in
accordance with Title 27 Section 21840. This addendum also incorporates the
environmental control improvements since closure in 1996, such as the installation of a
landfill gas (LFG) collection system and additional groundwater monitoring wells.
BACKGROUND
CHSL is located at 31130 South Corral Hollow Road, in southern San Joaquin County,
approximately five miles south of the City of Tracy, at the intersection of Interstate 580
and Corral Hollow Road (Figure 1). CHSL covers approximately 58 acres, of which 43
acres was permitted disposal area. The closure cap consists of a 2 to 6-foot foundation
layer under a 1-foot minimum thick, low permeability soil layer, covered by a 1-foot thick
vegetative surface layer.
In 1996, CHSL was certified closed with the installation of the closure cap, LFG migration
monitoring wells, and installation of groundwater monitoring wells.
Abutting the North eastern property line of CHSL, a 20-foot wide easement to Shell Oil
runs through the landfill. A high pressure oil pipeline was installed in that easement 1967
prior to the closure of CHSL.
Postclosure Maintenance Plan Addendum San Joaquin County
Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill Department of Public Works
October 26,2012 1 Solid Waste Division
