The"gap"between shear boxes was set at 80 mil(2.0 mm)
2. The test specimens were flooded during testing unless otherwise noted.
3. High Normal Stresses,>5psi(35 kPa)was applied using air pressure.
4. Low Normal Stresses, <5psi(35 kPa)was applied using dead weights.
5. The tests were terminated after 3.0"(75 mm)of displacement unless otherwise noted.
6. Tests were performed in general accordance with ASTM procedure 5321 using a Brainard-Kiliman LGA 12 direct shear machine
with an effective area of 12"x 12"(300 x300 mm).
TEST ORIENTATION: JJ NORMAL STRESS
TOP BOX WITH BOARD SPACERS GEOMEMBRANE
-- - - - --- GEOCOMPOSITE
FE- BOTTOM BOX W/RIGID SUBSTRATE Asperity Height: .033 in.
SPECIAL TEST NOTES:
1. Each specimen of geomembrane was cut to 14"x 16"and clamped to the upper shear box.
2. Each specimen of geocomposite was cut to 14"x 20"and clamped to the lower shear box.
' 3. Each test specimen was consolidated for 1/2 hour at the specified normal stress, then sheared.
4. The test was performed in a"wet'or"flooded"condition.
5. Shearing occurred at the interface of the geocomposite and geomembrane specimens.
6. Further interpretation should be conducted by a qualified professional experienced in geosynthetic and geotechnical engineering.
This testing is based upon accepted industry practice as well as the test method listed. These results apply only to the samples
supplied and tested for the above referenced job.
LLatzxcelwtgedsICientINarreI2o12A1ro1349 Print Date: Entered By.
