MONITORING RESULTS
Groundwater
Summary
Groundwater was sampled on October 15, 2012.
No VOCs were reported in the deep aquifer wells. No VOCs were reported in shallow aquifer
wells SB-1 and MW-4 this quarter.
Shallow Aquifer
Summary
Conditions are similar to previous quarters.
No general water quality parameters were exceeded this quarter.
Nine VOCs were detected in impacted on-site well MW-5 and six VOCs were detected in
impacted on-site well MW-8. All of the VOCs detected in MW-8 were also detected in MW-5.
One VOC was detect in new off-site monitoring well MW-9A, Three VOCs were detected in
new off-site monitoring well MW-10A, and five VOCs were detected in new off-site monitoring
well MW-11A. All VOCs detected in these wells are among the VOCs found in W-5 and
MW-8 generally at lower concentrations.
The source of these VOCs is apparently from LFG emanating from the refuse discovered near
the property boundary line, where the influence of the LFG system has been minimal. As a
corrective action measure, the County installed five additional LFG wells installed in this area in
December 2008 and has since increased the collection rate from those wells.
SB-1(Up gradient):
Concentrations of all the parameters analyzed were within established concentration limits this
quarter(Table 1).
A"significantly decreasing"trend is reported by the Sanitas program for nitrate and sulfate this
quarter, and a"significant increasing"trend is reported for EC, and TDS this quarter(Table 3).
However, the variation in concentrations are slight, so the reports of"significant trend" appears
to be an artifact of the Sanitas statistical calculations.
No VOCs were reported at SB-1 this quarter. A trace concentration of one VOC was reported in
this well in the 4t`Quarter 2011. With this one exception, VOCs have not been reported in this
well since second quarter 2004 when trace concentrations of one VOC was reported.
Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill 10 Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
4te Quarter and Annual 2012 Groundwater Monitoring County of San Joaquin—January 15,2013
