Monitoring was
performed in accordance with the monitoring program included with the Waste Discharge
Requirements (WDRs) approved by the Regional Water Quality Control Board for this site.
It appears that the water quality at some wells may be improving.
• At well MW-9A, no VOCs were reported in this year, whereas two VOCs were reported
when this well was first monitored in May 2012.
• At well MW-8, only three compounds were reported in the last quarter, none above
1.0 ppb, compared to five VOCs reported earlier this year.
• At well MW-11A, only three compounds were reported in the last quarter, compared to five
reported during the year. No concentration was above 1.0 ppb.
• At MW-5, the concentration of each of the five VOCs reported decreased during this year.
CB&I reports that no general water quality parameters were exceeded this quarter. In previous
quarters, the concentration limits for Bicarbonate Alkalinity in SB-1 and MW-4 were exceeded;
however, there are no primary or secondary maximum contaminant limits (MCLs) for these
parameters, therefore, the data does not represent a potential human health risk. The highest
concentration of a VOC was below 10 ppb at well MW-5 (our most impacted well). Deep aquifer
wells MW-6 and MW-7 and shallow aquifer wells SB-1 or MW-4 remain without impact by VOCs.
This report includes the seventh periodic data from the three newly-installed wells. Data from
these wells show VOC concentrations below 2 ppb, with most reported as "trace". This data
confirms the extent of groundwater impact, delineated in the Evaluation Monitoring Plan Report of
August 2012.
TO-15 analyses of soil gas are included in this report, along with concentrations of major gasses
(02, CO2, CH4, and N2) per your request.
