across Interstate 580. The depths of the samples will be determined in the field by <br /> on the on-site geologist. <br /> B. Hydropunch groundwater samples will be collected from the shallow water- <br /> bearing zone in the three offsite borings locations described above. <br /> C. The borings will be advanced to the shallow water-bearing zone and a water <br /> sample will be collected by driving a hydropunch or similar in-situ sampling <br /> device into the shallow aquifer. <br /> D. The borings for the soil gas and hydropunch samples shall be sealed in <br /> accordance with Section 3.03 J and K. <br /> E. Soil cuttings generated from drilling of the off site soil borings shall be <br /> transported by the Contractor to the landfill using a combination of a hopper and <br /> off road fork lift. Contractor personnel shall provide proof of fork lift training <br /> prior to the start of field work. <br /> 3.06 SURFACE COMPLETION <br /> A. A concrete pad, 3-foot by 3-foot by 6-inch thick, shall be constructed at the <br /> ground surface around the protective steel surface casing. The concrete shall be <br /> sloped away from the protective casing to promote surface drainage from the <br /> well. <br /> B. The Contractor will install the first is a 5/8-inch diameter, 6-inch long zinc or <br /> cadmium plated carriage bolt in the concrete near the base of the protective <br /> casing. This bolt will used by the County as a permanent survey monument. <br /> C. Contractor shall inscribe the name of the well into the concrete pad. <br /> D. The protective casing shall be painted yellow with a rust inhibited metallic paint. <br /> E. Three steel traffic guard posts (minimum 2-inch diameter) shall be equally spaced <br /> around the well. The posts shall be installed by the Contractor in mounting <br /> sleeves, such that the posts can be removed for well access. The mounting <br /> sleeves shall be installed in concrete filled postholes approximately 1.5-feet below <br /> the ground surface. <br /> F. The Contractor shall drill a drainage hole into the protective casing. The drainage <br /> hole shall be positioned approximately two inches above ground surface. The <br /> Contractor shall paint the protective casing and guard posts with a rust-preventive <br /> colored paint at the completion of the entire project. <br /> G.
