3.02 Permits to drill soil gas monitoring wells will be obtained by the Public Works <br />Department from the Environmental Health Department (EHD). The contractor shall <br />schedule inspection(s) of the well construction with EHD Unit 6 supervisor or lead <br />senior inspector at least 48 hours before starting any construction. Call 209-468-3422 <br />to schedule inspection. Note the name of the EHD staff person contacted. After <br />scheduling inspection, the contractor shall provide to the Engineer the name of the <br />person in EHD Unit 6 contacted. <br />3.03 Install pipe, pea gravel and other materials in the presence of the EHD representative <br />unless otherwise directed by the EHD. <br />3.04 Install pipe, pea gravel and other materials in the well bore in the presence of the <br />Engineer. <br />3.05 Probe Pipe <br />A Install the probe pipe without joints. <br />B Stretch the probe pipe prior to a near -straight condition prior to inserting the pipe in <br />the well. <br />C Mark the portion of pipe above grade prior to inserting the next pipe into the well <br />as follows: <br />1 Deep probe pipe: yellow/gold. <br />2 Intermediate probe pipe: blue <br />3 Shallow probe pipe: red <br />D Secure Schedule 40 PVC cap with stainless steel screws <br />3.06 Bentonite <br />A Hydrate bentonite with a minimum 5 gallons of water poured from the surface after <br />approximately two feet of pea gravel is placed over that bentonite layer.
